I personally quite enjoyed that episode - and the explanation for Clara was superb.

Ok, I will just say I knew that we’d never actually find out his name, that it would be said silently, or telepathically. Everyone getting their knickers in a twist about Moffat ‘being the one to reveal it’, really? He’s not about to sink the goddamn thing, the whole point is we don’t know it. Ever.

Clara being scattered through time and space linked with the Doctors tomb was a very nice explanation, and this leads perfectly into the 50th anniversary which explains how we will see so many versions of the Doctor - seeing all of his timeline at once.

Atleast we know where River’s timeline stands now. She is actually dead, he had sent her off to the Library sometime between losing the Ponds and meeting Clara in Victorian London. So if we ever do meet her again, it will be the Doctor with spoilers and not the other way around. but still, that parting scene broke my heart, because he did seem to actually love her, not just because River wanted him to, he just did love her and then this … *cries* you poor bastard.

Still, I call that John Hurt is actually gonna play the Valeyard, as he’s always mentioned to be a future version of the Doctor, but one that was twisted and, well, evil. Even if the Master was just pissing about by saying he was the darker side of the Doctor, the Great Intelligence listed it as one of the Doctor’s alias’.

The Doctor said that he was the one who broke the rules, rules being that Doctors help people, implying that the version John Hurt is playing does the opposite. Which I am looking forward to immensely, not only do I think John Hurt is great, but seeing the ‘Doctor’ do something that’s the complete opposite of his usual standards should be quite interesting. That or he was the one to push the button that ended the Time Lords very existence, and the next incarnations wanted to bury it deep into the past.

Just my two cents, in before people exclaim loudly over John Hurt playing the Doctor.

The inhabitants of Barkalak, especially in the cities, incorporated a trade that was introduced by visitors to the planet, who would draw permanent designs on their skin. The Canids found a way of dyeing or bleaching their fur into intricate patterns for all to see, as Vashra sports on the left side of her face.
